Quimbaya Golden Urn and Statuette

Written by

Left: is a cinerary urn. Right: a sitting statuette of a Quimbaya cacique (chief, leader). Both are from La Soledad, Filandia (Colombia). Quimbaya I style. Between 200 and 1000 AD. Gold. On exhibition at Museo de América in Madrid, Spain. Via DeLafée.

The placing is not really accurate. This is part of the so called “El tesoro de los Quimbayas”. Read this article (in Spanish) on the subject by Roberto Restrepo Ramírez, Academia de Historia del Quindío.
